Crush was written while Erika was studying in Paris and completing her undergraduate work. It sums up the shyness most of us have felt when when feelings are at stake. This song goes out to all those who have had a crush, but have never had the courage to express their feelings. Erika chose to express emotions using the raw yet resonate elements of African bongos. She intertwined this resonance with Jamaican Steal drums. Through this instrumentation, Erika captures a visceral earthy feel with a touch of carefree Caribbean attitude.
