The Assum-Preto (Gnorimopsar chopi) is a blackbird that has a beautiful song, but will not sing when caged, this is why traditionally, in the North-eastern parts of Brazil they will pierce its eyes to make the bird blind, so it will sing in captivity. The song talks about a lost love, the way the Brazilian Blackbird looses its sight.
