This ballad opens with a beautifully played first statement of the melody by John Lockwood. The theme came to me years ago in Copenhagen, during one of those 3am blue moods. I rediscovered it while fooling around with some of my old compositions in Boston. The distinctively Nordic atmosphere of this tune really evokes home for me, making it a special experience to play it with my trio partners.
