Super 31: Ever heard of them? I remember hearing one concert-goer say to another at some non descript club in Hollywood circa '94; "Sorry I'm late, who opened the show?" and the other replied with more than a bit of annoyance, "Super 31...AGAIN!" Ha. Probably some random member of *another* Southern California band that didn't have the opportunity to share the stage with the likes of Verve, Slowdive, Swervedriver, Sonic Boom, Gene, Belly, Radiohead and even aberdeen. Their live sets were a mixture of sweet, sour and fuzz. Caught on the 'right' night and you were treated to a blistering guitar assault, sonic landscapes, hypnotic rhythms and possibly a blown eardrum. But once in a while {OK let's be honest, a good 50% of the time} Super 31's stage was all nerves, self inflicted emotional wounds, arrogance, dead nine-volts and blood-blistered hands {let's not focus on that though}. It was, however, always honest, fuzzy and loud. Within their short true existence in early/mid 90's {NO, we're not counting the drug rattled, groove box experiment guys}, they managed a CD single ("Acceleration"), followed by a full album ("Eye Heavy"), followed by a 7" ("Elacca"), followed by mass murder...I mean. What do I mean? There were of course those unreleased (and often better than the released) versions of some songs as well.
