The Emerald Down was born in 1997 unto the soggy heaven of lo-fi pop known to some as Olympia, WA, United States. But one and a half years ago, The Emerald Down forged their way east from Olympia, WA and landed in Columbus, Ohio where the band is now based. In the past they have had the pleasure of playing with bands such as Unwound, Hovercraft, The Posies and King Black Acid. Before their move East they were also voted as one the top 25 bands in the Pacific Northwest by Seattle's Pandemonium Magazine! The Emerald Down are also receiving radio play on radio stations in the US, Canada and Europe. The CD release Scream The Sound consists of four members. Formerly of Olympia¹s Some Gorgeous Accident, drummer and core member Jason Markin creates a stylized rhythmic framework that both accents and solidifies their sound. Lead Vocalist and Guitar player is the other core member Rebecca Basye. Rebecca is the former Guitar player for the notorious Kill Rock Stars, Yo-Yo and Outpunk band the Mukilteo Fairies whose other members went on to form such bands as And You Will Know us by the Trial of Dead and Tight Bros From Way Back When. Also on the album, Chad Williamson on Guitar and Bass Player/Vocalist Jim Rock. The Emerald Down¹s debut release Scream The Sound (POPsound) is distributed by Parasol Distribution and Carrot Top Distribution.
