Mount Venus is a band hailing from Antwerp. They embrace prog, post and stoner rock to create their own music that lies between overwhelming walls of sound and fairy tale soundscapes. References are Porcupine Tree, A Perfect Circle, Motorpsycho, … It was in the spring of 2007 that four musicians started jamming together: Roeland Picon Van de Wingard (vocals/bass), Sam Goedhuys (guitar/vocals), Anthony Van Breda (guitar vocals) and Joris Van Regemortel (drums). Jams rapidly turned into mature songs, which where recorded and released as a self-titled demo. This demo was selected as best demo in the rock category on 'the Muzikantendag' in the Ancien Belgique in Brussels. “Epic. That’s the least you can say about Mount Venus’ music”(Poppunt Magazine, 03/2008) “Mount Venus have a sense for exploration and – very positive- add no limits to their music. They take their time to elaborate their ideas, they use multi-layer structures, they have no fear of tempo variation and they take their songs beyond the boundaries of space and time.”(Zap Magazine – 03/2008). At this moment Mount Venus is finalizing the recordings of a first full-length album, putting their definitive stamp on the Belgian rock scene. Mount Venus featured as support act for several wellknown national and international bands like a.o. Daturah, The Seven Mile Journey, Transit, Motek, Jenniferever, PG-Lost, .. in concert halls and clubs around Belgium. The live performance of Mount Venus leaves a deep impression:
