louis fleet produces electronic music, including techno and deep house I ve been learning how to produce/producing music for the last year in my spare time. The time i have been able to spend on it varies, and as i have no formal musical training i ve spent a lot of time learning some basic music principles as well as learing about things more closesly related to electronic music production. For the last few months i have been using ableton and native instruments FM8 exclusively. Whats more im using ableton just for the sequencing/arrangement side of things and FM 8 for the generation of all the sounds. I dont use any samples in my music, whether it is a hit of a kick drum loaded into a drum machine or a whole loop, pulled of a sample CD. The idea is to really understand one synth, rather than using a myriad and only partially understanding what i'm doing (or atleast spending a long time understanding what im doing). i ve found this working method a lot more fruitfull as it forces me to focus on using one source for my sound generation, as opposed to searching through a hundred and one soft synths for the right sound. Working in this i ve found im a lot more productive in translating a one bar idea into a full track. The results of this process you can hear on this page.
