Since April 2011, Woodstock Mafia have brought their infectious post-grunge rock sound to venues across Cape Town, gathering a steady following of dedicated fans. Their debut self-titled EP consists of four original songs from Woodstock Mafia, each providing a combination of high energy guitar riffs, melodic vocals and a thumping rhythm section. Fans agree that the music is reminiscent of international acts such as Foo Fighters and Wolfmother, yet akin to local acts like Taxi Violence and Van Coke Kartel. There has been praise for Woodstock Mafia's first few tracks with Jason Ling from Taxi Violence stating "Dance on Cars is nothing short of a great song by an awesome band". Local blogger Laura McCullagh described a recent gig as having "devoted intensity and general hardcore-ness [sic]", while Cape Town Music Scene commented "The Mafia enjoy what they do...they impressed with their execution of hits in a grunge-rock sound [sic]." “They’re here to play, they’re here to stay and their lead singer can scream better than a Norwegian Black Metal vocalist…This is what they have to say for themselves… Blood and all.” - Don’t Party Interviews.
