White Birds and Lemons describe themselves as "a Bluesy-Psychedelic-Folk-Rock-Experimental, (or something like that), four piece outfit from the sleepy shores of Devonport on the North Shore of Auckland, in New Zealand." They met and originally formed while they were going to High School at Takapuna Grammar on Auckland's North Shore. Takapuna Grammar is well known throughout New Zealand as the birthplace of many bands (often called "Taka-bands")including The Checks and The Electric Confectionaires. White Birds and Lemons released their first album, "Who Says You're Free", on August 6th 2007. They describe their influences on their Myspace page as "jeff, jimi, janis, john, jim, jimmy, etc" which are similar to many new Auckland bands.
