We Are Power take their cues from riff-heavy rock stalwarts such as The Bronx or early Queens of the Stone Age and push it to the extreme like a blow to the head. That declaration in the band name? They weren't joking... Tracks like 'Fire Takes No Holiday' start loud, get louder and throw in a bit more volume at the end for good measure. But none of this would be worth anything if the music wasn't any good. Luckily W.A.P. seem to have the best hooks since that bit in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The infectious call and response vocals that rip into the riffs in 'Fire Takes No Holiday' don't seem to be able to sit still for a minute, with the odd blood-curdling scream thrown in for good measure. But for all the intensity, W.A.P. know how to write a pop song - maybe the best comparison would be to imagine The Sonics amped up to 11, having a drunken tussle with AC/DC, while Nirvana join in on the choruses. This is a good thing. They Are Power. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
