Despite their ages, Walkers Line vocalist-guitarist Andre Kaden Black, and guitarist Pat Leyland, have already experienced many of the things that most musicians dream about. In their former alt-rock band left Pencey, the two helped the group develop over a number of years from rehearsing in a small town basement to showcasing in Toronto, New York, and Los Angeles for top members of the music industry. Particularly noted for their live performances and on-stage chemistry, Andre and Pat created and defined a key element of left Pencey's sound - a dual-guitar attack that ranged from expressing powerful emotional angst to melodic solemnity, often within the same song. Perhaps the most important role they played was that of songwriter, as their material helped the band land a major label recording contract with Arista records in 2001. However, after spending the summer of 2002 in Malibu and Hollywood working on their debut album with producer Brad Wood (Sunny Day Real Estate, Liz Phair, Smashing Pumpkins, Pete Yorn), left Pencey broke up. While this event was a disappointment to many involved, a "silver lining" soon became evident as Walkers Line came together, incorporating the obvious lessons learned with the added drive that comes from desires so nearly fulfilled. As quickly as left Pencey dissolved, Walkers Line formed, rapidly generating a large catalogue of songs from their hometown of Burlington, Ontario.
