Waldo Jeffers are an indie band formed in the autumn of 2002 in Moseley, Birmingham, UK when they moved in together. The name of the band came from a Velvet Underground song, The Gift. They were without a bassist or drum kit when they did their first gig, at their house, with Panda Love Unit. Soon after, they recruited a bassist and with the gift of a drum kit, they were soon performing, firstly at a small festival in Yorkshire. The lads continued to play and enjoyed a trip to Radio WM where they did their best to entertain the folk of the West Midlands who couldn't get to sleep that night. Regrettably, the bassist was fired soon afterwards. Thankfully by now the Jeffers household had a new resident who soon took up the vacant bassist position. The band have 'released' a couple of home made EPs, been featured on an indie compilation featuring bands from all over the world by Series 2 Records and hope to one day release an album of their own. Waldo Jeffers today consist of Roy Selby (guitar, vocals), Chris Smith (guitar, backing vocals, drums), Trevor Lawlor (drums, melodica) and James Read (bass, ukelele) and can be most frequently seen playing gigs in and around Birmingham. **** As of November 2009, Waldo Jeffers are no more.
