Their name means 'a good/sweet year' in Hebrew. The recorded material on the 'Shana Tova' EP exhibits a live energy. The band released their self-titled debut through Viann & Violet (Art & Music) in 2009. Shana Tova ply an angular and furious live show on the alternative stages of art and music: and have so far played alongside the likes of Cursive, Tubelord, Johnny Foreigner, Dinosaur Pile-Up, The Tupolev Ghost and Sunset Cinema Club to name a few. Their sound is fired by an admiration of the erudite and passionate Scottish indie greats; Orange Juice, Delgados, Belle & Sebastian, and the incendiary rasp of U.S. Alternative Rock: Fugazi, Sugar, Thingy and Violent Femmes. The band extend this musical legacy to a largely untapped art audience, by performing alongside Performance Artists, VJs and Poets. The band count artists such as Kandinsky and comic book philosophers such as Jeff LeVine amongst their influences.
