Artist
Wacław Raszek (1764–1837) was an organist and composer, probably of Czech descent, who moved to Poland in the 18th century and stayed there until his death in the first half of the 19th century. Among the places he lived and worked were Warsaw, Puławy, and – most importantly – Gidle, where The Shrine of Our Lady was located. Although his compositions were played by numerous Polish ensembles, he has been forgotten hitherto. Nowadays, musicologists only start to discover his life and compositional technique.
