Violent Still Life formed in Dallas, TX as a collaberation between Daniel Alpiger(Drums/Percussion) of Lapel and Derek Rico (Vocals/Guitar/Synth) and Zoe Rico (Bass/Synth) of Double Apex during the Fall of 2008. The members of the band share similar taste in music and draw influence from a variety of bands including Mogwai, American Football, My Bloody Valentine, Radiohead, and Mew. During the Spring and Summer of 2009 the band focused it's energy on recording it's self-titled album which released in August 2009.
