Vigilance Committee is a four piece band hailing from Lichfield (just outside of Birmingham) in the West Midlands. Each member has a wide range of influences and tastes in music that they all like to acknowledge in the writing process. Vigilance Committee is proud of its versatility and creativity and incorporates many styles and genres including Indie/Rock, Electro and Pop. The band’s line-up was completed in September 2010; however their story begins way before then… A love for alternative, eclectic, electronic and pop music inspired long-time friends, founder members and guitarists, David Minnis and Tom Coyne to unite and begin creating music in 2003. Their first band, the female fronted ‘Mr. Derry’ began (as many bands do) as a way to channel energy into creativity in their late teen years, the band soon became recognised for their energetic and intimate live performances as well as their surprisingly mature song craft. The two core members, however, are the only constant in the line-ups’ since, as they both like to point out they “go way back” and have been working together for the past eight years. In its first form, the band rose to relative success for a young group, signing to an Indie label and releasing a single and often being selected for support slots alongside bands such as Juliette Lewis and the Licks, The Von Bondies and The Holloways. ‘Mr. Derry’ also went onto reach the latter stages of the televised Battle of the Bands series on Channel 4; ‘Road to V Fes
