The brazilian singer Vassourinha (Mario Ramos Oliveira) was born in São Paulo SP May 16, 1923, and died in the same city on Aug 3, 1942. The origin of his name (broom) is due to the fact that a famous taxi driver in Sao Paulo in Largo do Paissandu use to pick up the last clients of the club Ponto Chic and people start to invent that he was the son of such o Vassoura . He was already known thus when he registered as continuous of the Radio Record, of São Paulo, in 1935, where he also initiated his singing career, in the nocturnal schedule. In the years of 1941 and 1942, he recorded the six only records that left. He died at the age of 19 due to some reason unknewn, but he was one of the great Brazilian singers of sambas.He influenced some great singers as Roberto Silva and Ciro Monteiro.
