Making loneliness an art , Connecticut's Verdigrls (formerly known as Velveteens) are a young and deeply unconventional band who set out to form their musical identities. Sisters Anna Wolk and Catherine Wolk are both classically trained in violin and cello respectively. Catherine’s obsessions with 60's girl groups and Morrissey with sprinkled elements of The Raincoats, along with Anna’s strong background in classical theory and both their fascination with electronic music have come together to make something slightly odd and idiosyncratic. Along with their poetic lyricism, haunting harmonies and unusual instrumentation, they form a captivating sound. Free tracks can be downloaded on their bandcamp, www.verdigrls.bandcamp.com.
