Urilia was an American extreme metal band from Hollywood, California, United States originally formed in 2011 by the past members of Dawn of Ashes and Psyclon Nine. Their early music was described as industrial with black metal elements during this period. The band shared a song in pre-production called Carnography but never officially released music. In 2014, the band reformed with a new lineup after Kristof Bathory ended Dawn of Ashes. The name Urilia came from the occult book The Necronomicon. The text of Urilia, also known as “the book of the worm” explains the warnings behind saying the name Urilia or dabbling with any black magic from the text within the book. To say the name Urilia is to witness humanity being torn apart by unspeakable demons. Their first demo single entitled I Am Nephilim was uploaded to SoundCloud on November 19, 2014. Another demo track from their EP entitled Bleeding Perfection was uploaded to their SoundCloud on February 9, 2015. The demo tracks were later removed and replaced with teasers for the official tracks. A third teaser for the song entitled Core of the Black Sun was uploaded to SoundCloud on May 12, 2015. Urilia ended when Bathory reformed Dawn of Ashes.
