Unlocking the Truth is an American heavy metal band from Brooklyn, New York. Formed in 2007, the group consists of childhood friends singer/guitarist Malcolm Brickhouse, drummer Jarad Dawkins, and Alec Atkins (bass, 2013-present). In 2014, Unlocking the Truth signed a $1.8 million contract for five albums with Sony Music Entertainment. As the members were still minors at the time, the contract had to be approved through the New York Supreme Court. In 2015, the band successfully negotiated their release from their contract with Sony. Unocking the Truth has performed on live television (The Tonight Show, The Colbert Report); music festivals such as the Warped Tour, Bonnaroo and SXSW; commercials; and toured with major artists such as Guns & Roses, Motley Crue and Queens of the Stone Age. In April 2016, Unlocking the Truth announced the release of their full-length debut album, Chaos. The album was released on June 17, 2016 via TuneCore. A feature-length documentary film about the band, entitled Breaking a Monster, was released in the Northern Hemisphere in the summer of 2016. On April 27, Loudwire premiered their first video "Take Control". User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
