Tracy Jones has seen a lot more of the world then most his age. This spoken word poet turned emcee is a true ‘world traveler’, his personal adventures taking him from Florida to New York, New York to South Korea, South Korea to Japan, Japan to Seattle, and from Seattle to Berkeley CA where he now resides. His journey wasn’t the result of a successful record, ending in an empty trip around the world, Tracy was simply chasing work- city to city, country to country. All of this lends a depth and credibility to everything Tracy has to say on his debut LP for Uncommon Records, “Humancloud Abandonment”. You see, above every person, clouds make changes in their form and evolve through their “lifetimes” just as we do in our own every day travels on the ground. The title “Humancloud Abandonment” is in direct reference to that concept. This album was made with transition in mind, and that’s exactly what it brought to Tracy, becoming a life changing experience for him. The confusion of life and immediacy of death are heard throughout this record. With “Humancloud”, you’ll hear lyrics that will have you pressing rewind on the whole album and beats that remind many of the mid-90’s NYC underground sound that got the whole “indie hip-hop scene” kick started, while pushing the envelope past this current era’s sound.
