Artist
Todor Kobakov is a Toronto-based composer/musician/producer. He has collaborated with numerous Canadian artists including Stars, Emily Haines, Luke Doucet, Sara Slean, and Small Sins. Kobakov has composed commercials for Vodafone Europe, Macy's, Acura, Robinsons (UK). Film scores include Young People Fucking, Pinkville, and Sympathy. In August 2009 Kobakov co-founded 88 Calibre, an indie record label. The labels first release was Kobakov's "Pop Music", a classical piano album featuring guest vocalists Tunde Adebimpe of TV on the Radio and Emily Haines of Metric. Kobakov was born in Sofia, Bulgaria in to a family of classical musicians. Musical training at began at the piano at four years old. He continued to study at the Sofia School of Music from six to sixteen years old. At age sixteen, he emigrated to Canada and at age twenty received a Degree in Performance Piano from the University of Toronto.
