Tina Turner (born Anna Mae Bullock; November 26, 1939 – May 24, 2023) was a singer, songwriter, actress, and author. Often referred to as the "Queen of Rock 'n' Roll", she became one of the most prominent figures in popular music and is regarded as one of the best-selling music artists of all time, with estimated sales exceeding 100 million records worldwide. She was known for her powerful vocals, energetic stage performances, and influence on rock and popular music. Turner first gained prominence in the 1960s as the lead vocalist of the duo Ike & Tina Turner, performing alongside Ike Turner and supported by the Ikettes and the Kings of Rhythm. The group became known for their energetic live performances and successful recordings. In the 1970s, Turner ended both her personal and professional relationship with Ike Turner after years of marital abuse and began pursuing a solo career. Her international solo success began with the 1983 hit "Let's Stay Together". She achieved a major commercial comeback with her fifth solo album "Private Dancer" (1984), which became a multi-platinum release. The album included the single "What's Love Got to Do with It", which won the Grammy Award for Record of the Year and became Turner’s only number-one single on the US Billboard Hot 100.
