Tim Robbins (born West Covina, California, 16 October 1958) is primarily (in fact, almost exclusively) known as a movie actor (Andy Dufresne in The Shawshank Redemption, Oliver Lang in Arlington Road, Dave Boyle in Mystic River) and producer/director (DeadMan Walking). He is, however, also a musician. He plays the guitar, has written songs for several decades, performs live every once in a while and has undertaken projects with musicians such as Pete Seeger, but did not release an album... yet. In September 2010, he will make his début as a recording artist, not simply under his own name, but as the singer and frontman of Tim Robbins and the Rogues Gallery Band. Their first album is entitled simply Tim Robbins and the Rogues Gallery Band. The album is preceded by a single, You're My Dare, which was released on limited edition 7-inch vinyl in the U.K. by PIAS Recordings. The forthcoming album contains nine songs; the style can be described as 'dark americana rock'. The members of Robbins' Rogues Gallery Band are: Kate St. John, Leo Abrahams, David Coulter, Roger Eno, Rory McFarlane, Andrew Newmark and Dudley Phillips. The album was produced by Hal Wilner.
