Part of the inspirational Tooting Bizarre collective of independent bands in that part of South London, Thumpermonkey Lives! play an astonishingly accomplished heavy progressive rock which is influenced by metal without succumbing to it (they also state Bowie as an influence!), ending up strangely melodic and with lyrics which are equally caustic and cryptic. They have released two records independently, "bring me the sun for breakfast" and "Chap With The Wings, Five Rounds Rapid", both of which received excellent reviews in the underground press. A new album "We Bake Our Bread Beneath Her Holy Fire" is due out through Genin Records on 30th November 2009.
