Founded in December 2009, The Memorials is a project spearheaded by Thomas Pridgen. After a few years as drummer for The Mars Volta, Thomas turned his attention to forming his own group, which would incorporate a range of styles as diverse as the experiences of the bands members. Thomas quickly got in touch with friends and former students at Berklee College of Music - Viveca Hawkins (Vocals) and Nick Brewer (Guitars), and asked them to join him in his newest endeavor. The Memorials SELF-TITLED debut album was recorded at The Zoo in Oakland, California, as well as at Thomas’ home studio, between December 14th, 2009 and Feb. 3rd, 2010.
