Artist
Thorkell Sigurbjörnsson is one of the leading lights in Icelandic music. He was trained in Reykjavik, where he now lives, and at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. Thorkell has composed more than 300 works in all genres and has 25 hymns or arrangements in the Icelandic Hymnal. He is active organizing concerts, lecturing, appearing on the radio as a commentator, and in general advocating for the quality of his country’s life in classical music.
