The meddyEVILS were a four piece beat band from Southampton, United Kindom. Looking for a name change after forming in early 1964, Tony Benson & The Skylanes made their début as The meddyEVILS on 6 June 1964. A year later they passed an audition at Marble Arch Studios in London, which won them a record deal for nine singles and an album. Their first single was 'Find Somebody To Love' (October 1965). The group disbanded after the second single. Personnel: Tony Benson (vocals), Roy Roberts (guitar/sax), Martin Smith (drums; he left to join The Mojos and was replaced by Dave Bunney), John Roberts (bass). A new incarnation of The meddyEVILS was formed by bassist John Roberts, which included former members of two other Southampton bands: Les Fleur de Lys and The Soul Agents. Roberts later formed The Quik. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
