about

There are at least 2 bands with the name The Weekenders. In order of popularity on Last.fm: 1) The Weekenders were one of the early Britpop bands on the Nineties Camden scene. Started London, UK in 1993 by songwriter and Blow Up Club promoter Paul Tunkin, joined by Chris Remington (currently in The Buzzcocks) on bass, Steve Smith on drums and James Hender on guitar. By 1995 the band had received a fair amount of press, including an NME “On” Feature, and one of the “Tips of the Year” in Melody Maker plus several full page features. Their third and final single “Inelegantly Wasted” was a Melody Maker Single of the Week (peaking at No.3 in the indie chart). In the Summer that year The Weekenders sold out London’s 500 capacity The Garage and went on to co-headline The Carling Stage at Reading the same year. They released the mini album 'That Was Now But This Is Then' on Blow Up Records to enable access to their deleted back catalogue of singles with tracks been drawn from BU001 “All Grown Up”, BU002 “Man of Leisure”, BU003 “Inelegantly Wasted” and the Fierce Panda EP “Return To Splendour”. Later described by Amazon.co.uk as "a fantastic example of early Britpop". https://www.facebook.com/TheWeekendersOfficial http://www.theweekendersofficial.com 2) The Weekenders are a Rock'N'Roll four piece from Salt Lake City, USA who cite influences such as The Black Keys, The White Stripes and Led Zeppelin.
