The Wards of Court were a harmony quintet from Essex, who might have been fair rivals to the likes of the Equals under other circumstances as a British soul outfit. Their one and only contribution to posterity was a single, "All Night Girl" b/w "How Could You Say One Thing," of which -- too typical of English rock at the time -- the B-side was the greater achievement, a stomping soul selection that could have done great things on the charts and for the group, had it not been overlooked. It has since surfaced on the compilation CD The Mod Scene. ~ Bruce Eder, All Music Guide * Genre: Rock * Active: '60s * Major Members: Sones, Rod, Smethers, Rob, Silk, Nigel, Danby, Trevor *TAKEN FROM ANSWERS.COM* User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
