They evolved out of The Bellingham Accents who were The Night People before that. They recorded two 45’s. 1: Babe It’s Me / I’m Walkin’ Babe - Panorama Record Label Seattle, USA, 7”, Cat. # 23, 1965. 2. Summer Is Over / I Could Go On - 1966) The first single received almost no air play, but the flip side, Babe It’s Me, done by Kathi and Laurie Vitt, was No. 1 in Bellingham for 26 weeks straight. It never received national attention. Between the recording of the first and second 45’s, The Unusuals went on the road as a back-up band for Dewey Martin prior to his joining Buffalo Springfield. He had a hit at the time, and he and his band had been billed as British. Eventually Gary Ramsey replaced Pat Jerns as drummer for The Unusuals. Gary Ramsey transformed from being a businessman-type manager of a steak house to a full blown hippie within about a year of joining the band. Summer Is Over was recorded in San Francisco, at the band’s expense, after which they returned to Washington. Within a week the owner of the studio called and said that Rene Cardenas of Time-Mainstream Records wanted the song, but the band would have to return to San Francisco and re-record it.
