The Threadbare Orchestra was formed in November of 2008, when Americana enthusiast C.R. Jones ventured into the basement of derelict mathematician J.E. McClure, on the pretext of caring for a doomed cat. Whatever he may have discovered amidst the dusty electronics, he could surely describe it better than I. Several weeks later, a meeting between the parties was arranged, and it was agreed that a drummer (drummers being in short supply) should be kidnapped and forced to perform. This potentially misguided plot, inspired largely by McClure’s misunderstandings regarding the circa-1930s traveling carnival, became unnecessary with the arrival of the distinguished A.X. Haley. Known communist (deleted) joined the band as a mandolin/banjo specialist, adopting the stage name of G.P. Symons. The final addition to the band was local organ grinder J.S. Lobo, whose musical acumen is exceeded only by his knowledge of fine scotch whiskeys. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
