There are at least four acts/artists called The Tapes. 1. The Tapes were an Italian experimental electronic/industrial outfit consisting of brothers Giancarlo Drago (the only permanent member) and Roberto Drago (the biggest supporter and collaborator over the years). They were active between 1982-1993, releasing over twenty cassettes, mainly produced in a 'DIY' manner on their own Industrial Tapes label. In later years (1987-1993) they moved to such legendary labels as Minus Habens, Technological Feeling, RV, Amen and THX 1138. Their music is mixture of post-punkish mutant synths / gurgling cold beats / distorted voices and bleeping noises, tearing metallic fields apart: the soundtrack for images of consumers control, medical experiments, psychological warfare and other highlighted themes of modern industrial era. Main tools were: synths, drum machines, shortwave radios, loops, TV noises and self-built effectors. 2. The Tapes were a Dutch new wave band from Amsterdam, The Netherlands, active from 1977 to 1982. They enjoyed success with their albums, You Just Can't Sleep (1978) and Party (1980), but disbanded after disappointing sales of their album, On A Clear Day (1981), produced by John Leckie. Personnel: Rolf Hermsen (guitar, vocals), Michiel Brandes (guitar), Igor Roovers (bass), Dennis Duchhart (keyboards) and Peter Meuris (drums). 3. The Tapes are a four-piece rock outfit from northwestern Ohio in the United States. The members of the band grew up together and were
