There are a number of bands Called The Roomates,an original band from america who had top 20 hit with glory of love . Also a group from the uk who have been together for 21 years in 2008,they have just released their 5th album called "LOST ON BELMONT AVENUE".Their influences are the late 50s and early 60s doowop groups like Dion and the Belmonts,Mystics,Passions,Capris, etc etc.In 2007 they sang backing vocals For Dion DiMucci on a very rare trip to the UK. Below is Biog for another Roomates group from the Uk, completely different in music style, from other groups. The Roomates is an indie punk garage band formed in 1996 by Jason Flatowicz and Ben Swift from Lincoln Nebraska. Using a hand-held mono tape recorder, Jason and Ben began improvising songs and recording everything that they did within the small confines of their shared school dormitory room at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. They played their first show in the summer of 1997 opening for Omaha folk-rock legend Simon Joyner. Soon after, The Roomates dropped out of the music scene for 4 and a half years, filling up more tapes, but staying out of the limelight. In April of 2002, they released their self-titled album, and are often tagged as garage rock or indie punk, but refer to themselves as "Improvised Acoustic Folk Punk Rock Music". Their unique songs, featuring several mature references are silly, and often times quite laughable, although might be considered offensive in some circles. User-contributed tex
