Artist
"Songs of self pity and remorse" is how Steppin' Thawmus, singer, songwriter and fingerpicker of The Radio R.A.T. Misery Hour, describes his repertoire. Despite this seemingly downbeat credo, Radio R.A.T. is finding increasingly enthusiastic audiences in their home turf of Zurich, Switzerland, where Thawmus has lived since he left his native Canada (as well as his native name Stephen Thomas) behind. The Misery Hour's style encompasses pre-war blues, country blues and mountain music with an emphasis on murder ballads, poor boy songs and my baby done me wrong songs. The only release to date is the self-published 2009 album "Coffee, Strings and Bullets". Thawmus performs live with banjo player and vocalist Miss Lisa. Recently Thawmus has enlisted the talents of Oliver Baroni on and Luke Weyermann of The Hillbilly Moon Explosion on double bass and drums respectively under the name The Sihl Valley Pheasant Pluckers.
