The Purkinje Shift were a math rock instrumental trio from Atlanta, GA, active from 1996 to 2000. Their sound was similar to Slint or Don Caballero and featured twin guitars that gradually built and further weaved in and out of each other with intricate but beautiful arrangements. However, just as quickly as one would fall in love with the interplay going on between the two guitarists they would lay into a quick, harsher sounding crunch. They released two full length albums, 1997βs Nickel Waves and Carbon Stars and 1999βs Five for the Road and One for the Ditch. The band's line up featured Benjamin Davis and Gary T. Flom on guitars and Scott H. Robbins on drums. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
