Artist
The Musical Theatre is Matt(y) Studivan, a musician/performer/tutor, Mark Henderson, a musician/composer/web designer, and Abram Taber, a musician/improviser/archiver/teacher who all reside in Boston, MA and are part of the Friendly Square artist group. In September of 2007 Matt(y) moved to Chicago and recorded an EP of original songs called “Concentrate!?!” under the name “The Musical Theatre” at Washtenaw. Between long stints at the amazing Bob Inn, he contributed guitar to The Jasper Archer Group’s first EP recorded at Brian Sulpizio's (Health and Beauty) “Chateau” studio in Humbolt Park. Matt(y) has since moved back to Massachusetts and in November of 2008 multi-instrumentalists Abram Taber (of Paraffin Section, The Slurred Murrays, and Verre) and Mark Henderson (of Javelin, Wicked Bad Scumbag, Vent and Amateur) joined Matt(y) to fill out The Musical Theatre’s lineup. After gigging Boston and the surrounding areas The Musical Theatre has begun work on its first full length as a complete band. Recorded and mixed at Friendly Square, it will be released in the Fall of 2009. Mark, Matt and Abram all come from very diverse musical and performance backgrounds though one thing they revel in is that the band name is a decided misnomer for their energetic, punk, folk, noise inspired, and at times theatrical, live performance. Currently, The Musical Theatre can be heard live in Boston and it’s supporting ‘burbs, on the “Orbis Tertius” Records Compilation (with a cover of Green
