2009: The La La Lies emerge from out of the blue accompanied by solid rock tunes and steaming gigs. Within a few months OOR Magazine labels them: ‘One of the best new Dutch bands around. You won’t hear many better songs this year’. These songs have been picked up by Radio 3FM’s Eric Corton and one of them was even declared ‘Single of the week’ on Amsterdam’s Radio Mortale. Both ‘Turn up the music and dance’ and ‘Lies’ reached the number 1 position in the Dutch Indie Chart and the video to ‘Lies’ has had 7000 views a short amount of time. On top of this all E-Street band’s Little Steven played the song in his radio show in the US! ‘Lies is a killer track which sounds like The Hives finally went full retro and blended Small Faces, Humble Pie and Motown together. In the meantime The La La Lies have impressed many audiences sharing the stage with De Staat, the Buzzcocks (UK), The Madd and even on Dutch national television, where host Matthijs van Nieuwkerk brands them: ’The Who, from Alkmaar’. 2010: Can they top a great year like 2009? Just wait and see because right now the band is busy writing songs for an album due at the end of the year. If it’s up to the four Liars, 2010 and 2011 will also become ‘Year of The La La Lies’. Although brand new, the four members have had their share of experience playing the biggest Dutch rock venues in various bands.
