Based in Colchester, UK, The Kuru Smile are a 4-piece Alternative/Progressive Rock band who endeavour to apply a progressive approach to song writing, whilst maintaining the ‘song’ at the heart of each composition. “It outweighs the majority of recent mainstream alternative releases in musical proficiency and passion… combining substantial passion and thoughtful structuring to deliver a final product...” (Lastbroadcast) “Truth be told, The Kuru Smile are a multi talented band with an established skill at mixing things up, different sounds, tempos, vocals and at times exhibit some very different musical influences.” (B.H. Radio) Having finished recording their debut album ‘Provenance’ in February 2010, The Kuru Smile are currently embarking on a number of live shows across the UK in support of this release. The album consists of 10 tracks, written and recorded by the band throughout the course of 2009 and ranges form the hard hitting sound of “And yet I still walk blind…” to the melancholy introspection of “29 Years On”. This latest release successfully encapsulates the bands ethos of an open minded approach to writing and has been warmly received by a wide ranging audience base. Formed in December of 2005 the band, initially a 3-piece, set about writing and performing original music, building a fan base over the next 3 years with their blend of song based progressive music.
