The Judy's were one of Texas' most notable New Wave bands, earning critical and popular acclaim for their minimalistic, quirky alternative music and energetic live performances. Originally hailing from the Houston-area suburb of Pearland, the band formed during their high school years and quickly rose to become one of the southwest region's top sell and crowd-drawing acts through the 1980's. The band's core lineup consisted of lead vocalist/guitarist/songwriter David Bean, bassist Jeff Walton, and drummer Dane Cessac. (Bean and Walton also shared keyboard duties.) The Judy's released three official full-length albums in their career: Washarama (1981, regarded by most fans as their masterstroke), The Moo Album (1985) and the limited-release Land Of Plenty (1991), all on the band's own Wasted Talent label. The albums were augmented by two 1980 EPs (Teenage Hang-Ups, recorded while the boys were still in high school, and The Wonderful World of Appliances and the single "Girl of 1000 Smells" (backed with a Russian version). Both Washarama (coupled with Wonderful World of Appliances) and The Moo Album (also containing Bean's 1983 solo EP Modomusic) made their CD debuts (alongside a reissue of Land Of Plenty) through the reactivated Wasted Talent in December 2007.
