The product of one November night's boredom, The Infamous Ocean-Borns are a dynamic duo of New Hampshire Boy Scouts with a shared love of ephemera, minutia, fire, and dark cabaret. Jordan McKenney and Sam Lloyd, on November 26th, at 10:41 PM Eastern Standard time, 2008, formed the Infamous Ocean-Borns, having met only a few months before at Griswold Scout Reservation in Gilmanton Ironworks, New Hampshire. They are notable for their ages -- Jordan is 19, Sam is 16 -- and the fact that both of them write for the band. Jordan is most influenced by the likes of Amanda Palmer, whereas Sam draws mainly from the likes of The Decemberists and Keane. Jordan McKenney is self-taught at the piano and can learn full songs by ear but cannot read music. He is known for his fascination with all things Victorian, stilted and verbose speech and his baritone voice. He used to play with the band Driftwood Skyes but has since departed. Sam Lloyd, a resident of North Hampton, has been taking piano lessons since he was 8 and cannot play full songs by ear but can, in fact, read music. Sam is similarly verbose, and has a fascination with the occult which he swears has been there for as long as he can remember. He recorded a few songs under the solo project Axiom but for the most part writes only for The Infamous Ocean-Borns now. He can also play an acoustic guitar.
