The Hi-Fi's (sometimes spelled The Hi-Fis, but The Hi-Fi's is the preferred spelling) were a British beat band of the 1960s. They released several singles between June 1963 and February 1965, before - in a revamped line-up - accepting a six-week residency at a club on the German/Swiss border. Following this gig the band stayed in Germany for two years, cutting three singles and the album Snakes and HiFiS (1967), an idiosyncratic set of beat, Swinging London sounds and more psychedelic pop/rock. The 'German' line-up that recorded the LP was as follows: Mick Douglas (lead vocals, guitar), Malcolm Lenny (guitar, vocals), Brian Bennett (organ), Gary Unwin (bass, vocals) and Mel Wright (drums). In late 1965 The Hi-Fi's also recorded one single (for Philips/Fontana) as Five's A Crowd: 'I'm Not Ready For You Yet'.
