The Guest Speaker is an indie rock band from Buffalo, NY. In the summer of 2005, The Guest Speaker was formed by members James Lotterer, Jason Overholt, and Francesco Cimato as a indie-rock trio influenced by Modest Mouse, Q and not U, and Minus the Bear. As the summer ended, the band disbanded as the band's members were absorbed into personal responsibilities. During the summer of 2007, the trio got back together and began writing a more mature version of their previous music, having been influenced by a great many artists such as Broken Social Scene, Do Make Say Think, Explosions in the Sky and Animal Collective. Since their "reunion" they have played several shows in the Buffalo area and are currently in the studio working on their first record due to be released by the end of August 2009.
