The Geriatrics are a pop-punk band from Crystal Lake/Lake in the Hills, IL, who have opened for the likes of Flatfoot 56 and The Frantic. They were formed on October 1st, 2005. The current (and only) lineup is Ben Hjelmstead on bass and lead vocals, Matt Allen on guitar and backing vocals, and Dan Bretz on drums and backing vocals. Their first album, Shake, Shiver, Sweat, was released in 2007. They recently released their self-titled sophomore full-length, and as of 8/1/08 are on indefinite hiatus. Ben later went on and formed The Memphis Rose with singer/song writer Dan Cooper of The Downtown Struts and released "Ma..Don't Wait Up for Me" the summer of 2008. The following August (2009) Ben would become a member of The Downtown Struts filling the void of second guitar. Matt soon after The Geriatrics disbanded, Matt and Anthony Kretizer (former guitarist of The Downtown Struts) formed The Dust Bowl Preachers Fall of 2008.
