about

Powerful guitar noises combined with beautiful melodies. That's the trademark of The Dead Superstars, a Brazilian independent rock band composed by four friends that share a great love for music. Joao Eduardo (guitar and vocals), Joao Pena (guitar and vocals), Poliana Ojima (bass and vocals) and Rafael (drums) are the passionate members who struggle to make their way into the local music scene, playing in small venues and music festivals since it's first formation, in 2003. They come from Recife, a small city located in the Northeastern region of the country. In June 2006, the band finally signed with local independent label, Bazuka Discos, and released their first EP, "Orange Girls in The Blue City", with seven tracks. The songs reveal the band's creativity and maturity, with a sound that goes from soft lo-fi pop to noisy and heavily distorted rock and roll. "Orange Girls in the Blue City" was recorded at Mr. Mouse studio, mixed by producers Leo D and William P and promoted by "Coquetel Molotov", a group of independent music producers who try (and succeed) to reveal new artists from the local music scene.
