A popular fixture on the Liverpool, United Kingdom scene of the mid-1960s, R&B enthusiasts The Cordes are now almost completely forgotten. They recorded a demo in 1963 and four tracks for an acetate EP in 1964, but none of that material was officially released at the time. The band later recorded a single for the Cavern Sound label ('Give Her Time' and 'She's Leaving'), but it is unclear if this 45 was ever officially released. Some of the band's recordings later appeared on compilations of obscure sixties beat, including their two different versions of 'Clarabella' (which they recorded in 1963 and 1964).
