Tõnu Naissoo is an Estonian jazz pianist and composer. His debut took place in 1967 at the Tallinn International Jazz Festival. In 1970s and ’80s he was very active jazz musician in former Soviet Union’s jazz scene. Since 1980’s he started to play abroad, including Germany, Belgium, Cuba, Finland, England and Ireland. In 1989 he got scholarship to Berklee College of Music in USA. He have been one of soloist of Alfred Schnittke’s First Symphony premiers in USA with Boston Symphony Orchestra/Gennady Rozhdestvenski and in Holland with Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra/Gennady Rozhdestvenski. He has released about 20 albums under his name. For jazz records collectors Norway’s record label JazzAggression released Tõnu’s earlier recordings on vinyl: Tõnu Naissoo Trio (1968), Tõnu Naissoo First Recordings (1967 & 1968) Recent years Tõnu has toured with his trio in Japan and released CDs under Japanese label Atelier Sawano.
