Artist
Composer. Graduated in 1952 from Tallinn Conservatory in the composition class of Prof. Heino Eller. Worked as a teacher of musicology at the Tallinn Music School (1952-80) and at the Tallinn Conservatory (1979-80) where he also was a teacher of light music. He has played piano in many noted pop music-bands (eg "Rütmikud"). Songs with jazz influence take an important place among his works, but he has also written serious music for symphony orchestra and numerous choir songs. His serious works are often based on jazz music intonations. His pop songs, melodious and bright, belong to the treasury of Estonian music, highly popular in contemporary Estonian music life. Uno Naissoo has published musicological research (Harmoonia alused [Principles of Harmony], 1961; Dzässilik harmoonia ja orkestratsioon [Jazz Harmony and Orchestration], 1969).
