Strawberry Jacuzzi is a Chicago trio featuring members of fellow Chicago bands Summer Girlfriends, The Peekaboos, and Kangaroo. Formed in 2014, they draw inspiration from bands such as All Girl Summer Fun Band, Shonen Knife, and The Vaselines, as well as their pets and romantic entanglements. According to the band's Facebook page, they came together out of a need to write "screamy pop songs about ice cream and break-ups." Their demo "Smiling Is Cool!" premiered on bandcamp on April 6, 2014, followed later in the year with a full-length album called "Love Is For Suckers." They have also been featured on numerous compilations from local cassette labels. Their songs often feature garage-y guitars, chants, handclaps, and humorous but heartfelt lyrics that recall the best era of Weezer, The Rentals, and Mates of State.
