Artist
Hornet Leg started in the spring of 2003 as a 4 track project to exorcise the many demons that ran rampant through Chris Sutton's mind while not being occupied by his other projects C.O.C.O. and Dub Narcotic Sound System. Using primitive drum machines, keyboards, and guitars, this project produced a lone 4 song "cassingle" on the Dolo Records label. Performances showcased distorted beats mixed with stream of consciousness lyrics and occasional guitar meanderings. Shortly after this genesis Chris and his other bandmates in Dub Narcotic Sound System suffered a massive van accident, sidelining them through the Winter & Spring of 2004. Chris fought back with a vengeance and channeled his songwriting energy into "jungle guitar music" throughout the rest of the year. 2004 & 2005 shows were mostly solo affairs with some shows backed by local garage rock outfit Thee November Witch. The guitar/drums formula materialized when Marianne Kozlowski from The Punks joined the fold in early 2006. This lineup produced one highly energetic show and a spirited appearance on a KAOS radio program called Free Things Are Cool. Marianne moved to Brooklyn NY and Claudia Meza (Thunder! Thunder! Thunder!, Japanther) stepped in on drum duties shortly thereafter. Claudia's vigorous drumming complimented the caveman stylings of Chris's guitar/vocal work and primal rock n' roll has been spewed forth at an alarming rate ever since. And just to make matters even more dangerous, psychedelic warrior Joel Brazze
